Глагол BE с прилагательными и предлогами: Предисловие

The construction "be + adjective + preposition + noun" is widely used in English. Такие выражения фактически имеют идиоматический характер, и их нужно запоминать.

Nouns in such constructions are chosen by the speaker. Participles in the function of adjectives are also used in such constructions. In some cases, the verb GET is used instead of the verb BE to show the beginning or end of the action: I was angry at him. I got angry at him. (i.e., became angry)

Существительные в таких конструкциях выбираются говорящим. Причастия в функции прилагательных также употребляются в таких конструкциях. В некоторых случаях, глагол GET употребляется вместо глагола BE для показа начала или конца действия: Я был зол на него. Я разозлился на него. (т.е. стал злым)
